Receiving duties typically involve the following:
verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.
A Stock Clerk works in the shipping and receiving department of the company, and is responsible for accepting, inspecting, stocking, and transferring deliveries.
The job of a Stock Clerk involves a close attention to detail, the ability to use inventory software, and strong organizational skills.
Position Description The Stock Clerk signs for deliveries, checks delivery content against the shipping invoice, addresses and resolves any problems with shipments, stocks or transfers deliveries accordingly, and works with both customers and distributors to address any shipping and delivery issues.
Responsibilities Unload and unpack shipments of products Inspect shipments for damage and correct quantities Report damages or shortages to the appropriate person Match shipments to their associated purchase orders and enter receiving data on paperwork Record receiving data in company databases Prepare and organize received stock for inventory Return damaged products to senders Monitor inventory levels Qualifications Basic math and organization skills Ability to bend and lift 50 pounds or more Detail-oriented mindset Data entry and computer skills Forklift certification is beneficial for unloading large shipments Ability to work on feet for long hours Excellent communication skills Understanding of safety protocols and requirements Experience shipping, receiving or selling related products Education and Experience High school diploma or GED is required AND +2years of related experience.
Job training session required prior to start date.
License and certification to operate heavy machinery is strongly preferred.
Work Environment Time will be spent in a stockroom, warehouse, or loading dock receiving and transporting deliveries.
Time will also be spent in a shipping and receiving office processing inventory and paperwork.
Moderate to heavy physical labor such as lifting and moving heavy items is required on a regular basis.
Temperature in the warehouse or dock varies according to external climate.
Standard 40-hour workweek applies.
