Travis Air Force Base Primary Purpose:
The Retail Merchandiser will service established retailers in product development to include promotional programs, merchandising and brand strategies.
Position also includes data analysis, category management and overall assistance to retailers in maximizing sales volume, store distribution and gross profit.
Essential Functions:
Implement retail sales strategy.
Research, analyze and understand:
demographics, competition, schematics of stores, relationship of produce sales to overall store sales, promotional sales vs.
regular store sales, GP's product mix and sales reports.
Evaluates effectiveness of retail merchandising programs.
Implement retail marketing programs.
Participate with Buying and Sales Departments in developing weekly promotions.
Additional Functions:
Attends and participates in all staff meetings and company functions, as requested.
Learns and utilizes all office policies and procedures.
Reports regularly to supervisor.
Complies with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Effective written and oral communications.
Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
Customer service skills.
Supervisory experience.
Ability to analyze and understand data.
Effective time management.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Ability to perform the primary functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Education and
Experience:
High School graduate.
Five years experience in the retail, produce merchandising field including experience in developing and implementing programs.
Additionally, three years sales experience preferably in the retail/grocery field and proven experience in all areas listed in qualifications.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages, MENTAL ABILITIES:
Ability to carry out defined procedures and duties with specific instructions.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, peers, customers, vendors and the public.
Ability to manage multiple projects from their initiation to completion with minimal supervision.
Must exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making.
Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend verbal instructions.
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
